PUT YOUR SEATBELT ON!!!

One funny memory I have of hanging out with grandpa was on a day when I was driving him around town running errands. Probably on our way to see Jackie at Gormans. Anyhow, it was a nice hot summer day so we were enjoying some fresh air and driving with the windows down. We pull up to the stop light and end up sitting there for a minute to wait for the light to turn green. Seconds later a Bingham County Sheriff pulls up next to us. Now...after somewhat of a delayed reaction of the cop arriving...grandpa looks to the right to see the sheriff sitting there. Upon seeing this he yells "S%!$ Jaymee!!! It's the Sheriff!!! Put your seat belt on!!!" and proceeded to put his seat belt on in a dramatic fashion. Well let me remind you we had the windows down...yes that's right...the Sheriff also had his window down. He looked over at us and instantly started chuckling. But of course Grandpa continued to play it cool as if he had his seat belt on the whole time. Ha ha ha, it was great!

I remember Grandpa always driving crazy. My favorite was when he'd miss a stop sign, then stop twice at the next one we'd see. The first time he'd stop at the actual stop sign, then he'd slowly drive into the center of the intersection and stop again. I also remember being terribly afraid of being baptized because I didn't want to go under the water. So, one time when all of the grandkids were in the hot-tub, Grandpa strolled by nonchalantly and then dunked me under the water saying, "Well, now you have nothing to be afraid of." And finally, I always LOVED my overnight stays at the farm. One night, I was walking from the bathroom to the living room. Grandpa had already gone to bed and I heard him saying something, I thought he might have needed me for something, so I peeked in his room. He was on his knees, crying in prayer. Grandpa always had his coveted sins (I don't think I need to mention them specifically), but I learned from him the power of prayer that night as I witnessed his example of true personal prayer.

Grandma Moses and the Spilled Purse

On May 16th 1971 about mid morning Orin and Peggy stopped at the old farm in Moreland Idaho and wisked away with Grandma and Headed to Idahofalls. The day for the arrival of Orin and Peggy's first son had come. Things were a little tense it was Grandmas first Daughter to give birth. I think she must have been way nervous. I believe she was almost a nervous as I was. When we arrived at the hospital (the Old LDS Hospital in Idahofalls next to temple) We went staight thru the emergency room to check her in. She was so close to having him that I almost didn't get all the paperwork done before Kory was born. I went looking for where she might be and I found Grandma in the waiting room pacing the floor. Man was she rattled. They had already taken Peggy to delivery and I didnt even get to see her off. As Grandma paced the floor she happen to look in a mirror and realized that she hadn't combed her hair yet. So she frantically dug thru her purse looking for a comb or a brush. As she fumbled around with the purse it fell and spilled all over the floor. Together we were in the process of picking it all up when the nurse came in and said it was a boy. After all the pressure was off we sat around and laughed about how tense things were and how funny it was Grandma had spilled her purse. We were so happy that Kory had been born and He and Peggy were doing fine. since I didn't have the luxury of digital photography to show off the new baby I am including a doctored up picture of the purse spilling incident. and of course our new baby. Aint He Cute

Thanksgiving

Thanksgivings at the Farm was the best. Every time I ate thanksgiving dinner at the farm Grandpa would always make an extra banana cream pie and hide it just for the two of us. After dinner it seamed like everybody would go to the TV room and fall asleep. Grandpa and I would sneak off in to the other room (he would hide the pie in the cupboard that was above the microwave) and eat the whole banana cream pie together.

Christmas Memory from Airport rd. One year grandpa was gone driving truck and was not home to buy a tree. So grandma Moses Patti and myself went and got the tree and brought it home. I was a Charlie Brown tree with a big hole in the middle. Grandma turned that tree around every way she could so the hole would not show. But no luck. So she came up with the idea of flocking the tree to make it look better. Grandma went to town and got some spray snow and flocked our tree. We hung red Christmas balls in it and put red lights on it. We loved it!!! Grandpa came home and said Christmas tree's are supposed to be "green"!!! We agreed but we liked our first and last flocked Christmas.
